Dr. Robert Hesselgesser and Dr. Eugene Ahn lead the qualified and compassionate team of cancer care professionals at Westlake Village Radiation Oncology Center.

Dr. Hesselgesser is a specialist in radioactive implants with high and low dose rate Iridium-192, and has lectured internationally on the topic, including its use in lung, brain and nasopharyngeal tumors.

Dr. Ahn has a particular interest in stereotactic radiosurgery, and is the Medical Director of the Los Robles Gamma Knife Center in Thousand Oaks.

The Westlake Village Radiation Oncology treatment team offers a full range of advanced treatment options, including Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), and 3D Radiation Treatment Planning, as well as a Topex Superficial 100/70 kVp unit. Robert D. Hesselgesser, M.D.
dr hesselgesser-thumbA graduate of USC and New York Medical College, Dr. Hesselgesser completed his residency in radiation oncology at LA County USC Medical Center. Board-certified in radiation oncology in 1975, he is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American College of Radiology, the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) and the American Endocurietherapy Society.

Dr. Hesselgesser is a specialist in radioactive implants with high and low dose rate Iridium-192, and has lectured internationally on the topic, including its use in lung, brain and nasopharyngeal tumors. He has performed over 250 I-125 prostate implants, one of the largest series done by a single physician.

Dr. Hesselgesser also practices with North Oaks Radiation Oncology Center in Thousand Oaks.

Jonathan Abelson, M.D.

Jonathan Abelson, M.D.Dr. Abelson graduated with honors from Pomona College with a B.A. in Mathematical Economics. He obtained his M.D. from UCLA medical school, where he received the Aesculapian award for service and leadership. He completed his residency training in Radiation Oncology at Stanford University, serving as chief resident in his final year.

At Stanford, Dr. Abelson gained comprehensive training in general radiation oncology and expertise in intensity-modulated and image-guided radiation therapy (IMRT and IGRT) and in stereotactic intracranial and body radiosurgery (SRS and SBRT). Dr. Abelson has authored numerous manuscripts on various aspects of IMRT, IGRT and SBRT, and he has presented at conferences in the United States and internationally. While at Stanford he conducted a clinical trial investigating pulmonary lymphography in SBRT, and on the Central Coast he implemented SBRT and SRS programs.

Dr. Abelson is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology. He is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO).

Dr. Abelson also practices at North Oaks Radiation Oncology Center in Thousand Oaks, and Simi Valley Radiation Oncology Center.
